Apple recently came under fire for allowing a US church to sell an app which would help to “cure homosexuality”, and only a large petition and a lot of negative publicity lead them to withdraw the programme.
It throws this story from PC World into an interesting light. Game Developers PopCap have been told that their new game, Unpleasant Horse, contains ‘mature content’ and is therefore unsuitable.
Why unpleasant? Because it’s about a sociopathic horse that bounces “from cloud to cloud and on to the backs of other, cuter flying ponies, who will thus be sent plummeting to a gruesome, bone-chewing demise, thanks to an unfortunately placed series of meat grinders on the ground below.”
Yep, pretty much Super Meat Boy meets My Pretty Pony.
Now, I’m not up to speed on computer games, but this isn’t exactly RapeLay. Is horse slaughter really so taboo that even a cartoon pony can’t go throw a pixellated mincer?
