Want to Name Some Soon-to-be-Famous Horses?

Of course you do. Because naming horses is probably the best horse-free but horse-mad activity out there. And you have two chances to help out:

  • The Household Cavalry is looking for names that begin with an “M” for 30 news mares and geldings that will complete their training in 2012. You can make your suggestions here at their Facebook page. I went for Marfisa (lady knight in the Renaissance poem, Orlando the Mad), Macready (after a World War One general) and Monty (for General Montgomery). [EDIT: here are the results! Score for Montgomery!]
  • Stonestreet Farm gives you until SUNDAY to name the first foal of racing super-mare Rachel Alexander and twice Horse of the Year Curlin’. It’s a boy, and he was born on the 22nd January. Go to it!
